mamapjama
We love audiobooks. We have been enjoying the books from this site recently. Look who the readers are :) http://www.kiddierecords.com/ We found this one particularly fun http://www.kiddierecords.com/mgac/index.htm (Now we know) Here are a couple other sites we use http://thestoryhome.com/stories/ http://www.kidsaudiobooks.co.uk/mp3_downloads.htm - I can't get it to work but I think it's my browser. http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/genre/Children/2 http://www.techsupportalert.com/free-books-children
Lizzie in Ma
So many, we love the Andrew Lang fairy books and they just completed the Pink Fairy one. But some of our favorites are here, even some from my childhood!
jelbe5
We enjoy audiobooks, also. I, myself have enjoyed the following from Librivox: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer read by John Greenman http://librivox.org/tom-sawyer-by-mark-twain/ Treasure Island read by Adrian Praetzellis http://librivox.org/treasure-island-by-robert-louis-stevenson-2/ I am currently listening to The Swiss Family Robinson read by Mark Smith http://librivox.org/the-swiss-family-robinson-by-johann-david-wyss/ I love Librivox! I love great literature but find I do not always have the time to sit and read as much as I would like. I put my iPod on and listen while I am cleaning, etc. It makes chore time much more pleasant! And it is a treat to have a pleasant voice read to me if I am settling down at night.

stripe
The molecule song is hilarious: What is an Atom? / Molecules, Molecules by Tom Glazer http://www.kiddierecords.com/mgac/index.htm The Wizard of Oz retelling is nicely done. http://librivox.org/my-fathers-dragon-by-ruth-stiles-gannett/ <-- intending to listen to this
MelissaMom
I'm so excited to find this thread. I haven't listened yet, but just downloaded from LibriVox GrammarLand, Stories of Great Composers for Children, and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland dramatic reading). I know I'd come across it before, but someone mentioned these on the Vintage grammar S & S thread and I've been having fun searching this site. But it is nice to know which are the best before downloading them. I'll have to check out the others and would love the Wizard of Oz! OK Family
I came across this a couple weeks ago and haven't listened to them all. I am actually saving this for the fall to go along with the Veritas Press Comprehension Guide and the books of course. It was nicely done. Enjoy! www.ancientfaith.com/podcasts/series/the_chronicles_of_narnia If the link doesn't work let me know, I've never posted a link before. Crafty Mathy Mom
We've enjoyed Understood Betsy, The Princess and the Goblin, and Eight Cousins on Librivox. I may think of more later.
crazyforlatin
DD has listened to The Hobbit over and over and over, well you get the idea. I don't like to have her listen on the computer so I downloaded Real Player and the program can convert videos and transfer the files to iTunes. There's probably an easier way but this works well and I haven't had the time to look for a better way.
jelbe5
Oh, and Focus on the Family has wonderful audio dramas if that interests you. They are not free, but they are high quality!
Hathersage
Kay Ray, who also does librivox recordings has a podcast, http://kayray.org/kayray-reads/
happypamama
Kay Ray, who also does librivox recordings has a podcast, http://kayray.org/kayray-reads/ We have really enjoyed listening to her reading of Our Island Story from librivox; she has a great voice for reading aloud. We've also enjoyed the Burgess Bird Book from librivox, though the readers vary.
crazyforlatin
Oh, and Focus on the Family has wonderful audio dramas if that interests you. They are not free, but they are high quality! Actually, they are free if you are willing to download only the recent 10 episodes and there's a new one every day. I've being doing this for about a month and now have 30 free episodes. SnMomof7
My 8-year-old DDs all time Librivox favorite is Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott! It is an unheralded treasure in her opinion. She has listened to it dozens of times over the past two years.

Alphabetika
I don't have a lot of Librivox experience, but I really enjoyed Pilgrim's Progress read by Joy Chan. Also, there's a collection of different people reading Jabberwocky that is so fun because of its variety. Some of the readings make us cackle! HSMom2One
I also don't have much experience with LibriVox, except that we have listened to The Famous Men of the Middle Ages stories during our time in TOG YR-2/Unit 1. It was a real boon to have the stories read to us each week, and the variety of voice and dialects was often times a lot of fun. If I'd know that these were available for free, I would not have purchased the book prior to our unit. Blessings, Lucinda
