Source for BPA-free canned or jarred tomato products?

Recommended Posts

I order these too and really like them but get them from Tropical Traditions (haven't found any local source here). Sometimes they have a free shipping coupon:

It's nice to have the glass jar because you can use part of the jar and put it in the frig to use later w/o having to transfer it to another container.

Last Muir Glen and Food Club cans of tomatoes that I opened did not have the white coating on the inside. I don't know if this means they're BPA free or just trying to look that way.

Yes, Food Club.

But Muir Glen has some news out about it, so it's more likely that's really legit:

From the company itself:

But it seems all the cans already on the shelf have to sell first, so you may or may not get a can that is BPA free. The BPA free ones are not labelled.

Eden brand is BPA-free and organic.

AFAIK, it is only their plain organic beans that are BPA-free because there is currently no FDA-approved food can lining for tomatoes (which are very acidic and more difficult to line safely b/c of this). http://www.edenfoods.com/faqs/view.php?categories_id=6#faq48

We use POMI tomatoes b/c that's the only non-can option (there used to be an organic brand of boxed aseptic container tomatoes but those were discontinued, but I loved them! It was by Pacific Foods IIRC).
