Lisa at Home
It is wacky, for sure. We happen to love it, and it happens to be the most quotable movie around here! :001_smile: Gosh! Go make yourself a dang quesadilla! My lips hurt real bad! Give me some of your tots! Just silly, clean, nonsense around here. For that, at least, I'm appreciative. Oh, and we have a nice stack of musicals from the library, too!:thumbup1: ~Lisa
JFSinIL
Vote for Pedro!!! We enjoy that film - not enough to buy the DVD, but still, we watch it when it shows up on tv. Don't forget to feed the llama.

Ellie
Bwaaaahaaaa! You will never be the same again! It was NOT my favorite movie by a long shot, but there some things that were truly funny. And just think...now you're a member of that secret group of folks, all complete strangers, who will hear or see something from the movie and start snickering together. How kewl is that?? Jenny in Florida
Now, mind you, I have nothing against "cult" films. I bow to no one in my love for Harold and Maude, and my husband and I even own Hudson Hawk. So, I'm all about quirky and off-beat, but once was enough for Napoleon Dynamite here, too. You are not alone!

WTMindy
Here's the thing....it really isn't that funny, but if you watch it more than once, you can appreciate the goofy lines in it. You just can't take it at all seriously. GOSH!
Jeannie in NJ
I also disliked it and I do like some offbeat movies like Raising Arizona which my dh hates. OH, the WORST movie that I believe that I have ever seen was that Jim Carrey and Kate Wislet movie that was nominated for the Academy Award, I can't remember the exact title, somethat about Sunshine of the Mind. I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did.
lighthouseacademy
I am so glad that I am not the only one who can't stand that movie... my whole family loves it but I just never got it... so slow, no story, and bad acting!

pmegan
I think I would have liked it better if it weren't for all the hype. I thought it was cute, and I'm glad I saw it, but it wasn't the BEST MOVIE EVER which is what everyone was saying it was. So it was kind of a let-down for me. jmgconner
I think the people that find it incredibly funny are the ones that can relate to a character or know a Napoleon. We find it so funny because I'm Deb. Really. I wore a ponytail on the side of my head. I thought Glamor Shots was so cool. Those friendship bracelets/key chains - I made them. I even had a Caboodle like the one she carries in the movie. All our friends our age think the movie is hilarious. Now, our parents and older friends just don't quite get it. ChristyB in AL
were gone. My hubby kept saying,"Now who told you this was funny? Who told you to watch this movie?" I think we sat there confused looks on our faces. BUT then over the next week I just kept thinking about that movie! And got it again to view with our sons....and we have laughed and laughed over it. It is the most quoted movie in our home. We often sigh those long sighs that Napoleon does. "Your Mom goes to college!" "Girls only like guys with great skills!" "This is pretty much the worst video ever made!" "Like anyone could know that, Napoleon." "My lips hurt real bad!" Oh, I could go on and on with the quotes!!:D

Lynn in WI
Are you drinking that because you think you're fat? 1. I love the redemptive moment when Napoleon dances for Pedro's campaign. 2. You absolutely have to watch it through the credits. 3. The opening titles are among the most clever I have ever seen. :) My sisters hate this movie, many of my friends don't get it but I'm a sucker for friendship flicks and underdogs and this movie is full of those. Rhonda in TX
but DH and I were talking about how we feel like we have to see it, just to know what people are talking about! My teenage/adult nieces and nephews were sitting around talking about how terrible it was, how that's time they will never get back, etc. Then they proceeded to sit around quoting the movie and laughing! Does that make any sense to you?!

Ms. Riding Hood
Maybe we should have a poll: If you loved Napoleon Dynamite, when did you grow up? 70's? 80's? 90's? I'm so an 80's girl (like, totally!) and I swear I lived some of those Napoleon scenes. I think my friend actually drew me a liger. At any rate, he drew me a lot of things very similar to a liger. And those photographs hanging on Grandma's wall, with the front view and the side view up in one corner...what the heck were those called? All my friends had those made. The movie was so our lives. Except for wierd Uncle Rico.
