summer
I spent a very long time stressing over which math curriculum to use. I thought I had finally made a decision, figuring if it does not work out, I can always switch...it won't kill anyone. But then I was at the Homeschool Fair today and relooked at the curriculum I had used with my older children and now I am having second thoughts. Plus..I saw some more I had not really seen before but knew about. I am back to being frustrated and confused! I thought CLE looked great today. I looked at the Singapore Math again, which is what I used with my older children but they are done with it now. I no longer have the earlier books. CLE looks so nice too! I am going back tomorrow as I did not have much time to stay today. What I have bought already is Miquon and BJU.
Jumping In Puddles
Overwhelming isn't it? I have kindergarten all set but I am feeling the need to figure out a plan for all of our elementary years and I have to start now because their are so many choices and opinions and styles... how will I ever work through them? I have never heard of a curriculum fair before. Hmm, I'll have to google to see if they have one in NJ. Sounds dangerous though! :tongue_smilie:
sadiegirl
Stress...anxiety...must be in the air or water or somewhere as it seems alot of us are experiencing doubt, and fear on curriculum choices right now!! I have seen several posts and I am encouraged that I am not the only one worried about this subject. I am leaving for our curriculum fair next Friday and I am afraid I will not be able to pick the right choices on math and science....or maybe anything!! I chalk this indecisiveness up to the fact that we are entering the 7th grade...a whole new realm of teaching!!!
PeterPan
Once you buy something, stop looking. ;)
chiguirre
Once you buy something, stop looking. ;) :iagree: Truer words were never posted. At least wait to actually use what you have. Even if it doesn't work, you'll have a much clearer idea of what you like and don't like after a couple of months of daily lessons.
Another Lynn
You could get Singapore's Extra Practice book (isn't there one with answers in the back - so you wouldn't need answer keys, teacher's guides, etc.?) to see how that goes. Then, just keep CLE math in the back of your mind if BJU and Miquon don't work out for you. You'll know what you want to try next. Just a thought! Good luck! BizyPenguin
I wrote a post called "Choosing the Best Curricula For Your Family" on my blog last month. Just click on "Curriculum Reviews" in the side bar of my blog to find it. HTH! FWIW, we LOVE CLE and I've got reviews of that on my blog too. All the best! Mesa
I have to stop looking at new curriculum after I've purchased my curriculum for the year. I have a bad habit of buying everything people rave about. I'm avoiding CLE like the plague right now because of all the nice reviews. I'm set for 3rd grade.... I have 2 curriculums for 3rd! lol!
