Write Source handbooks vs. graded level texts

If you've used Write Source for writing, which do you feel is better: the handbooks (Writer's Express, Write Source 2000, Writer's Inc) or the newer version grade level texts?

As best as I can tell from samples online, they both cover similar material, but it looks like there is more explanation on topics and less variety in types of assignments in the graded texts. However, the graded texts seem to be very redundant if you chose to use them year after year.

Am I right? Any other thoughts? I would love to use a writing program simultaneously with both my dc, just modifying by the level appropriate for each one.

Thanks,

Jennifer
