WTMindy
Are they worth it? Do you use them? If we have finished LC2 will we need the extra practice?
Pensguys
Yes, yes, and yes. I'm glad to have the extra practice. Sometimes there are some topics that we've needed extra work on and these have been great for that.
Jackie in AR
Yes for us. My dd10 needs the extra practice. This is really her first exposure to Latin, though. Could you start with the textbook, then purchase the workbook later if you feel it's needed?
Lynn in WI
We use them about 50% of the time. They are nice for extra practice but I also find that just backing up a few pages in the textbook and having them do a lesson they did last week (again) works just as well for us. I wouldn't say they are as valuable to the program as the Challenging Word Problems are to Singapore Math. Do you know what I mean? I think they're completely optional, nice to have, but optional. sleepy
I think they're worth it. I like having the extra practice for my ds(9), I don't want him to rush through the books too quickly.
Cindyg
I vote yes. I need to slow the pace down FOR ME. The workbooks give us more practice on the same material before adding more concepts to my poor, slow brain. However, in YOUR case, I might not. If you did LC1 and 2 with your kids and "got" most of it, you'll probably not need to slow down. I would think you'll find a lot of review and reinforcement (from a different perspective). I hope you'll tell us how you like it after you're a couple of chapters in.
Crissy
Yes. They have been a great help to Hunter, and I wish they would produce workbooks for level 2 and beyond.
Susan in SoCal
Fwiw ... and certainly not dismissing anyone's appreciation of these ... we didn't use them and didn't miss them. We've found the text itself to be enough. Y'know, since Book Depository has free shipping, you could always try the text alone first, and add the workbook later if you find the need for it. (cause, gosh, it gets expensive to add workbook & answer key x 2 for one year).
Laura Corin
We also just use the text - it's been fine for us. Laura
Lizzie in Ma
Wish they had them for B as well.
womenfly
If one goes the route of using the level 1 text without the workbooks - is the answer key necessary? Thanks!
Jackie in AR
If one goes the route of using the level 1 text without the workbooks - is the answer key necessary? Thanks! There is one answer key for the exercises in the text, and another answer key for the workbook.
Elise
I highly recommend the workbooks, too. We have definitely appreciated the extra practice. LP moves much more quickly than previous programs we've used (LC, Latin for Children), and I'm afraid the kids wouldn't have been ready to move on from certain chapters without the extra activities. I'm sure it's individual, though, and certainly my 3rd grader is on the younger end of LP users (though my 5th grader benefitted from the workbooks just as much)!
