scrapbookbuzz
Understood Betsy and a slew of other books are available in Kindle format! Just go to that site and type in "free Kindle books". It's amazing what you can find there! Don't have a Kindle? You can also get a FREE, yes, FREE, Kindle app for your pc! True, not as portable as a Kindle but, hey, there are FREE books! Just thought you'd like to know! :D

KristenR
I have a Kindle but haven't really utilized it as much as I should. For those of you downloading the free classics- how do they choose with editions are free?
scrapbookbuzz
No idea, really! I think it might have something to do with the copyright date or if they're now in the 'public domain'. I just know I'm glad for FREE books! :D

kathkath
I've found even more free titles by googling epub--then you can download it and easily convert batches of books in calibre, a free download. Then put them on your kindle. Here is a tutorial. This says you need the sony ereader software but I found it was not necessary. Calibre was fantastic. I converted ibooks epubs that I had saved on my desktop from syncing my iphone, and also free books I downloaded from google books as epub documents. I suppose using the sony software could require fewer clicks to get each book but it worked!!!! Google books has tons more than amazon!!! http://ireaderreview.com/2009/08/29/kindle-free-google-books-guide/
