sbgrace
We've got a lot of changes going on right now in our lives. I am trying to figure out how to continue homeschooling well under new circumstances. My kids seem to thrive on active type learning. But I've put so much time into the planning and executing plans that I just can't do in the foreseeable future. They miss "school" and I feel they deserve to have fun opportunities to learn. I just can't balance right now with other life stuff. Is there a curriculum out there that has "doable" plans for active learning? By doable I mean Konos would be great for my kids in terms of active learning but it's way too much for me right now. I need something active but not time consuming in prep. I should add my core subjects--math, handwriting, phonics/spelling/reading, are ok here. It's the things that have been "fun" for us (unit studies, history, geography, science...topics at this age don't matter to me) that I can't keep doing the way I've been doing it. mommyagain
Have you ever looked into Christian Cottage Unit Studies? I kind of think of it like "Konos Lite". It has a day to day schedule, recommended books (however, anything on topic would work), and the activities are doable. We will be doing it next year. Actually, we'll probably be starting it this year.

Edwena
:iagree: We are also loving HOD as well. Plus the things that are working well for you are no problem with HOD as Carrie has those as options for you to choose your own things in those areas. Everyday my dc ask me, "Momma, what are we going to do fun today?" Love it!!!
Irishmommy
REAL Science Odyssey is a breaze to implement, and science was NOT getting done around here. Even my 4th grader likes it, but we have to beef it up a little for him.
newhsmommy
Moving Beyond the Page...includes everything but your math. Most of the activities your children can figure out. Very low planning on the moms part. It was a life saver for us. We too have had many changes, my kids were able to continue on with school and I had the time to handle our "big people" stuff. Flaura
:iagree: We just finished a concept in MBTP and I was pleasantly surprised by the hands on aspect and how much the dc enjoyed it and were able to direct it themselves.
krismoose
We are loving Heart of Dakota here! :iagree: The plans are easy to follow, and activities use around-the-house items. I try to look at the week ahead, but usually end up opening the TM up each morning to see what we'll do that day, and only once in 1.5 programs have I lacked an item that couldn't be substituted, and that was because I had just ran out. paula j
We too have enjoyed Christian Cottage Unit Studies in the past and find them easy to implement. I also like that they cater to all age groups. Another plus is that there are lots of science projects.
Lovedtodeath
Another Heart of Dakota fan here. :):iagree:Easy to implement hands-on is exactly what HOD offers. I am still not sure how happy we are with the science though.
Sue G in PA
My immediate thought was HOD as well. Your kiddos are young, right? So perhaps FIAR? Not too difficult to plan and very enjoyable.
