Curriculum that's hands on but not overwhelming??

We've got a lot of changes going on right now in our lives. I am trying to figure out how to continue homeschooling well under new circumstances. My kids seem to thrive on active type learning. But I've put so much time into the planning and executing plans that I just can't do in the foreseeable future. They miss "school" and I feel they deserve to have fun opportunities to learn. I just can't balance right now with other life stuff.

Is there a curriculum out there that has "doable" plans for active learning? By doable I mean Konos would be great for my kids in terms of active learning but it's way too much for me right now. I need something active but not time consuming in prep.

I should add my core subjects--math, handwriting, phonics/spelling/reading, are ok here. It's the things that have been "fun" for us (unit studies, history, geography, science...topics at this age don't matter to me) that I can't keep doing the way I've been doing it.

:iagree: We are also loving HOD as well. Plus the things that are working well for you are no problem with HOD as Carrie has those as options for you to choose your own things in those areas. Everyday my dc ask me, "Momma, what are we going to do fun today?" Love it!!!

Moving Beyond the Page...includes everything but your math. Most of the activities your children can figure out. Very low planning on the moms part. It was a life saver for us. We too have had many changes, my kids were able to continue on with school and I had the time to handle our "big people" stuff. Check them out

We are loving Heart of Dakota here!

The plans are easy to follow, and activities use around-the-house items. I try to look at the week ahead, but usually end up opening the TM up each morning to see what we'll do that day, and only once in 1.5 programs have I lacked an item that couldn't be substituted, and that was because I had just ran out.
