jer2911mom
For those of you who've used HOD in the levels from Preparing and up, what has your experience been with the bible portion? Any specifics would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Sue G in PA
We are using Preparing this year. The Bible portion focuses on the Psalms. The "Lead Me to the Rock" CD is used to help with the memorization of the verses. During the week, students read the verses and discuss, focus on memorizing and on Day 3 have a Quiet Time of prayer. On Day 4 they copy the verses in their Common Place Book. Of course Bible is weaved into almost all of the other subjects as well. HTH I don't have any experience with the other upper levels yet. jer2911mom
Thanks, Sue! I'd appreciate any other input I can get on this. Thanks!
momofabcd
In CTC, Bible history is woven in throughout secular history with the history portion finishing out the year reading the entire books of John and Acts. There is also an independent daily Bible quiet time. Dc read a chapter/day providing a great overview of the Bible by the end of the year. Quiet time merges with history when reading John and Acts. A key verse is underlined in each chapter being read. They are also prompted to pray a prayer of Adoration, confession, thanksgiving or supplication each day. There is also a together Bible study every other day. Parent and child read together Genesis Finding our Roots by Ruth Beechick. It gives a detailed account of the first 11 chapters of the Bible and weaves in historical insights pertaining to each time period/event.
