Donna in OH
I'm trying to prepare ahead of time and am wondering about SAT subject tests. Specifically, should I have my 8th grade son take the SAT Biology test this spring since he is currently taking hs biology and doing well? Does having taken an SAT subject test affect eligibility for PSAT and NMSC participation later? Does anyone have input on advantages or disadvantages of the SAT subject tests, especially related to students who are accelerating their hs studies? Thanks, Donna
regentrude
Make sure that you request that the score be kept. Otherwise, an 8th grade score will not be saved by the College Board. It does not affect the PSAT.
Donna in OH
Thanks - I would not have known to do this.
Granny_Weatherwax
Make sure that you request that the score be kept. Otherwise, an 8th grade score will not be saved by the College Board. Is this only with the SAT or the SAT subject tests?
Teachin'Mine
Generally, you won't want the 8th grade SAT score to be kept, but if you did you'd have to ask them to do that. The SAT II test scores taken before 9th grade will also disappear unless you ask them to keep them.
angela in ohio
My girls are taking it this June, because we are finishing up Biology. I have seen a few colleges so far requesting SAT II from homeschoolers, including my dd's probably college choice. We looked through a test prep book, and they had covered (or will be covering) everything on it in their Bio class.
choirfarm
People here told me not to have my8th grader take the SAT II American history since it won't count. Christine
