When we journaled in K-2 grade, we just used paper and 3 hole punched it, put it in page protectors, and put it in a binder. The page protectors allowed dd to put in 3D items, like feathers, pressed leaves, pressed flowers, etc, and photos, too. We could vary the paper, too--watercolor paper works well, but sometimes just taking regular copy paper on a clip board works, too. We could vary the size of the paper, also, b/c of the page protectors. So, most of the time, the work was done on individual sheets, and later put into the notebook.

Now, she doesn't really keep one, but occasionally draws in a wonderful little book that has a suede "wrap around" type cover. She got it from her grandpa, so I don't know where they found it. She just has a few sketches in it.
