Math is not linear

As a complete NON mathy person, I think that's pretty cool. Really, I love to think, but I just never really got math. I read something like that and think maybe I want to learn it (really learn it) after all. It makes it sound exciting and not like, well, math.

That was so cool. My roommate for 3 years in college was a math ed. major. She would tell me about number theory and things like the Babylonian base-18 number system (as opposed to our base-10 system), and it made me wish I had time to take those classes.

I've been known to tell my oldest that her life will be happier when she gets to algebra. She hates arithmetic. And so do I.

I've been trying to use things like Penrose the Mathematical Cat, Zaccaro's Challenge Math, and Life of Fred to introduce some fun tangents.

OK, I really would have loved to watch all of that....it's amazing!!!....but I get motion headaches from things like that LOL. It took all of about 10 frames, and I was starting to get "that feeling". Wish this was in a linear (ha) form. I love math, and agree with most of what was being presented.
