melissa123
My daughter will finish CLE 6 this spring. She'll be in 8th grade next year. Would it be horrible if we skipped CLE 7? Is there enough review in CLE 8 to cover what she needs from 7? She actually likes grammar, and retains it well, if that would make a difference. (I wouldn't normally consider skipping a level ,but my daughter is expressing an interest in going to a traditional school for high school, so I want her to get as much intense grammar as she can before she goes...) Thanks! Melissa
Punks in Ontario
We've tried something similar in our house except that my guys don't like grammar. One guy has managed to do this albeit rather poorly, and the other guy, I put back since he really wasn't behind. Now I wish I'd bought the books and had them do the new sections and only some of the reviews to do about 8 books in the time of 6 books, then went on to the grade 8 material. ondreeuh
My daughter jumped right into CLE 8 from public school (with no grammar background). She picked it up very quickly. I actually bought the little diagramming handbook and extra practice sheets, but she didn't use them.
Guest
Have her take the placement test again and see if she passes CLE7 is my best advice. Better to take it slow and win the race then rush and regret it.
melissa123
Thanks everyone! (I didn't know about the placement tests...)
Mommyfaithe
Since CLE Grammar only goes up to grade 10, (and there are only 10 booklets between grades 9&10) I don't think doing level 700 in 8th grade is a biggie. My goal is to finish CLE grammar by 11th grade, before SAT time. Faithe
Hunter
There is no need to be on grade level with Mennonite grammar to prepare for most traditional high schools.
