razorbackmama
I completely forget the name of it.:tongue_smilie: It's where a person can't look from one thing across to another easily. The 2nd thing, they have to sort of hunt all around it with their eyes before they focus in on the thing they are supposed to be looking at. It makes going from one line to the next VERY difficult when reading. Sometimes it can even effect how well they can move from word to word. Anyone know? prairiewindmomma
Are you talking about tracking?
razorbackmama
No, it had some fancy name. The eye doctor held two balls up, and my son was supposed to look from one to the other quickly. When he'd look at the second one, it would take him a few seconds to finally focus on it. Apparently that's not how it's supposed to go.:tongue_smilie:

peacefully
Saccades?
razorbackmama
Definitely not accommodation. Not sure about saccades. I looked that up, and that sounds like what it's supposed to be doing, but he has a hard time actually landing on the proper object after a saccade, if that makes sense. prairiewindmomma
If it's an eye teaming issue, convergence insufficiency? What are his eyes doing when he's trying to find the object?
razorbackmama
Nope, not that either. My dd has that, and the doc called it something else. Whenever he looks from one thing to another, his eyes sort of hunt all around the thing he's looking for till he finally finds it.
AngieW in Texas
It's called visual pursuits or saccades. That game on the cd-rom of vision therapy exercises we have is called Saccades.
razorbackmama
What would the inability to do this properly be called? From what I can find the actual movement is called a saccade? Or is the disorder called that as well?
peacefully
Maybe nystagmus or saccadic nystagmus?
