LeLe
My dd has been working with Saxon Grammar 6 this year. She does not like the program and I'm not loving it either. Guess I would like to see more practice with the concepts as they are taught than what is provided. She likes courses where she doesn't need assistance from me. Any suggestions on this for us? We have not used the writing portion. She did a local class on intro to essay writing the first quarter of this year.
Ellie
Are you sure she needs it? If you want just grammar, there's always Easy Grammar. It was our favorite.
EppieJ
You can check into Growing with Grammar. We've used some of the lower grade levels with good success.
Spetzi
Analytical Grammar was great for us. www.analyticalgrammar.com
abbeyej
I'm a fan of Stewart English. It's a straightforward workbook approach, but it's also *very* deep and challenging. All of the concepts are related directly to writing, and the books are filled with examples drawn from classic literature. The teacher needs to check the student work and will occasionally need to explain a concept, but for the most part the student can work independently. I learned of Stewart from my first ed. WTM. Stewart requires a *lot* more of students than GWG or EG. Whether that's a pro or con is up to you.
