Those are the perameters of the discussion, lol.

Okay:

1. What do you spend on groceries and household each month? Round to the nearest $50.

1a. How many people does this feed?

1b. So what is your per person allocated budget? (The total per month divided by the people it supplies.)

2. How often do you eat out in a month?

3. How often do you shop?

4. What area of the country do you live in?

5. What is the cost of milk where you live?

6. The cost of a decent pound of hamburger?

7. The cost of a 5 lb. chicken?

8. The cost of one lb. of apples?

9. Any unusual expenses?

Please, for this purpose, do not include pet food.

Call me curious.

Do you wear shoes in your house?

Do you return the cart to the store or cart holder?

Do you think 4 year olds should still be nursing?

:D

Probably around 500

1a. How many people does this feed?

There are 2 adults, 2 preteens, and 2 babies. while the babies don't count as a whole person, they still do partake in the food

1b. So what is your per person allocated budget? (The total per month divided by the people it supplies.)

I dunno, I guess around 75

2. How often do you eat out in a month?

Minimal. less than once a week.

3. How often do you shop?

We go once a month for big stuff, and then once every 7-10 days for stuff like fruits, veggies, milk

4. What area of the country do you live in?

We live in texas

5. What is the cost of milk where you live?

we buy organic milk, and what we buy I THINK is 4.99 a gallon? or 3.99 a gallon

6. The cost of a decent pound of hamburger?

approximately 5/lb

7. The cost of a 5 lb. chicken?

I got organic chickens on sale last week, for about 1.69 a lb

8. The cost of one lb. of apples?

When they are on sale, 1.29

9. Any unusual expenses?

I'm not sure what counts as unusual. we don't buy formula, we try not to buy hardly any boxed or processed foods, mostly whole foods; fruits, veggies, meats, rice, ezekiel bread, etc

Please, for this purpose, do not include pet food.

Call me curious.

No, never.

Cart holder OR store, but NEVER gasp NEVER do I EVER leave it in the middle of the parking lot.

Not me! But YMMV so I guess whateva' you choose.

No, I'm actually curious.

What brought it on is the idea of once or twice per YEAR shopping. And I was thinking, "Um, how would someone do that? Go to the store and drop $10-$15K on food tomorrow???" Although I guess there is a break for buying in bulk. :001_huh: And then there is an idea (I embrace) of growing as much food as you possibly could yourself, but still it's always hard for me to look at those interesting grocery discussions and say, "Well, they're high" or "They are low" because their families are the average 2.2 children... So I'm curious as to what the "average" family spends per person. And I'd assume that perhaps SMALL families spend more per person than large? :D
