Brigitte
Hi Ladies, Can anyone direct me to a VERY easy prayer shawl pattern to knit? I have a friend who could really use one and I am not a very good knitter. But, it is the thought that counts, right?! Thanks!
mommaduck
I've made this one http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/alpaca-prayer-shawl Very simple
Cinder
Lion Brand has several simple ones at their website. I think you need to register. The easiest uses 3 skeins of Homespun. Cast on 48 and knit every row until you have 70" then bind off. With prayer shawls it really is the thought that counts.
happi duck
Are prayer shawls usually rectangles or triangles?

happi duck
The patterns I have seen have been rectangles Thanks! I always picture a triangle for some reason. I might be able to handle a rectangle.
mommaduck
The patterns I have seen have been rectangles I've seen them as both. I personally prefer triangular shawls if they are of the knitted variety. If woven, then I prefer rectangular or square.
Karen A
I have a rectangular one wrapped around my shoulders right now. It was given to us when my husband was very ill, and is treasured.
Brigitte
Thanks, Ladies. I am going with an easy rectangle from the Lion Brand website. We are going away tomorrow night for 4/5 days. I would love to be able to bring it back finished. I'll post pictures when it is done.
