JennifersLost
It can be a series of lectures or videos - just as long as it's really gripping. Even just history of music in the 20th century would be great. Something that really tied music into HISTORY would be wonderful.
djkapp
My husband loves the music courses from the Teaching Co. He has several on tape (obviously a few years old) as well as CD. As a classical music buff, he particularly enjoyed the one on listening to opera. I've listened to a few of the lectures with him, and I also found them to be interesting and enjoyable. danielle
I'll second this. Professor Greenberg is hilarious. We're watching the music theory one. You have to listen really closely to catch all the jokes. Danielle
Michelle in MO
Teaching Company courses ever; even non-musicians love listening to Professor Greenberg. The title is: "How to Listen to and Understand Great Music" Here's the link: http://www.teach12.com/ttcx/coursedesclong2.aspx?cid=700&pc=Fine%20Arts%20and%20Music It's a fascinating study in the history of music, and Professor Greenberg is one of the most engaging teachers I've ever heard. Maura in NY
"How to Listen to and Understand Great Music" is just as fun as it is informative. I wish all the TC professors were as entertaining. Maura

Don't be misled by the title; it is basically the history of Classical music so that you know how to identify what you are hearing, and what to listen for.
