Just sharing some things we made for our bedroom renovation

Recommended Posts

We've been busy this winter renovating our bedroom. I cannot convey to you how desperately in need the room was of sprucing up. We even had lived for months with part of the carpet torn up because of water damage. It was just one of those rooms you locked when company came by.

So, my husband made a beadboard headboard:

We both made a lampshade and turned it into a swag lamp:

I made valances (I only sew on cards, so this was sort of a big deal for me)

I made this butterfly punch framed collage:

He put laminate flooring down:

And here are the almost final photos:

It looks so cute. We aren't doing a bedroom remodel but I am updating from our 90's furniture:tongue_smilier:

I have painted my walls and my DH is making me a bed frame. Its the farmhouse bed on

I just refurbished my grandmothers old cedar chest and I have found some bedside tables.

I love the room its really similar to what I am trying to do with our bedroom. I like the whole cottage farmhouse look.

Good Job!!

I love it! Where did you find your bedding? I am looking for bedding with either gray and yellow or gray and pink/red.

I love the butterfly punch art too. I may steal that idea from you. We have a butterfly print that is a focal point in our bedroom but I need some smaller artwork to go beside it.

Nice job! It looks AMAZING!

Now, I'm going to need the directions for that headboard. That looks so nice!

We just bought a sheet of beadboard paneling, and my husband framed it, added a little ledge and moulding. I can get dimensions for you.

Sheets are also from Target

Too cool. I love the butterflies too. Where did you get the punch?? My dds might just love something like that.

You can buy it at Michaels with a coupon. :)

BTW, have you considered being a decorator when your kids fly the coop? You could get paid for that kind of talent. :)

Thanks so much. :)

I love it! I especially love the beadboard headboard. I might have to try that sometime soon. We have never had a headboard and yours is so nice!

Our furniture was what my dh had from his previous wife. It was dark and, in my opinion, ugly. Nathan went through a spell of chewing on furniture when he was little, so the edges were gnawed on LOL. It's amazing how much we fit into the wardrobes. We used to have a dresser and a chest of drawers. Using the mirrored doors allowed us to still have a mirror.

We purged some of our personal books, so inside the white-paneled doors we have our own books (John has the left one, I have the right one), socks, underwear, purses, lingerie and all sorts of other things.

Our shoes, sweaters, shorts and hand weights are in the middle unit (which is twice as wide as the skinny ones).

It's much more streamlined, which we need because we have a very small bedroom.

Beautiful room, but I COVET YOUR GARDEN. Oh my, the hydrangeas! Hydrangeas are my favorite shrub, and I cannot grow them to save my life. Every time I buy hydrangeas (which I do not do any more, because I feel guilty), I should be arrested for Conspiracy to Commit Hydrangea Murder. I need a hydrangea intervention--someone to come hold my hand/shovel and say, "Here, you can grow this variety right here in this spot in your yard."

But enough of my whining. Your room and your garden are lovely. Thank you for sharing them.

Thank you!

In what state do you live? I would recommend testing the soil near your hydrangeas. Also, do you try planting in full sun? How is the water during the summer where you live?

The headboard is beyond fabulous... I'm envious of it!

How did you mount the butterflies? They look like they are not flat on the backing but suspended somehow

I used these little foam squares -- the tiny ones.
