I've been working on Eldest's 9th grade plan. Today I opened up my copy of TWTM and came across recs for Abeka or Rod & Staff. It is suggested to use the 7th grade texts if you've new to these programs, otherwise, continue on. I'm just wondering if it really were necessary. My son has used Growing with Grammar from level 3, finishing out level 8 this year. He has done well and I think has a fair grasp on grammar. Though I understand GwG is a bit lighter than other programs out there. Does anyone have a good feel of these programs to let me know if you think a child coming from GwG8 would need to go into Abeka GC I or if they could possibly go into the designated 9th grade text of GC III. Yes, I will be looking at samples and comparing that to where he is, but I like input too. Also, if you have comparisons/thoughts on Abeka vs Rod & Staff, that would be appreciated as well.
