mommaduck
Looking at laptops and looked up Windows 7. Thing is, I can't find what applications come with it. (ex. Word 2007, MS Money, Excel, etc) Does anyone know what comes with Starter and what comes with Home Premium?
monalisa
It may come with nothing...my Dell came with Windows 7 with just Microsoft Works. Microsoft Office is the actual program that includes Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook. It should say "Microsoft Office Home & Student" or whatever version of Office if it has it loaded, if it has any.
Parrothead
It is going to depend on the computer manufacturer more than Microsoft. Link which laptops you are looking at.
Mimm
Office is usually sold separately but there's many different packages that might have Office included though I'm sure it would specify. For a free alternative, you could use Open Office. It's built to be compatible with Microsoft Office (though it's Powerpoint component leaves a lot to be desired, imo). mommaduck
I was looking through the laptops being offered by Walmart and HHGregg. None mentioned Office. I have Office now only because uncle put it on for me. I needed it for college courses I was taking. I've tried Open Office in the past, but it was not compatible with Word 2007 (doc vs docx issue). Parrothead
This one has Office 2010 starter on it. This one has Office 2010 preloaded. This one has Office Home and Student. All of them will probably require a fee to unlock Office. They don't just give it away anymore.
mommaduck
The preloadeds require a separate purchase of the product key in order to use them. I was hoping to keep the cost of the laptop down...and those are above what I was hoping for. Thanks though.
