ELaurie Posted February 9, 2011 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I think it's a useful suggestion, but I decided to focus on other things for memorization when our dc were in first grade - poems, definitions for grammar, lists of pronouns, helping verbs, spelling rules, math facts, names of the continents and oceans, books of the Bible, the 23rd psalm and the Lord's prayer, etc. When I considered the list of pharoahs in the context of my overall goals for that year, I decided it was a lower priority for us. We are in SOTW2 now and are memorizing the rulers of England and are not memorizing the dates of those either. I figure, we'll do more date/timeline stuff on the second go around!
