Hedgehogs4
I am so excited that the groans have ended. "Can I do LOF, mom?" is now the question. He loves being able to check his own work and compare his results. He likes the story. Relief. We are still using MM, which he likes, but what a nice diversion from the normal! CarrieF
So great to hear as I was thinking about introducing LOF Fractions to my DS who is also 9. Thanks for sharing!
edelweiss
So, great to hear. I have LOF Fractions on the way for my 10 year old. I'm so excited for her to start it, and she is too! EarthyMama-- LOF is Life of Fred. MM is Math Mammoth. HTH!
blakereese
Where do you usually start with LOF? With the fractions book? Just curious, I'm looking ahead for the next school year with DS. From what I have read, it seems like LOF would be a good fit for him. :001_smile:
ELaurie
What is LOF? And MM for that matter? LOL Life of Fred Math Mammoth We love LoF at our house too!
Angie in VA
Yep, it's a hit here too. DD stopped me one day and asked me, "We ARE going to get all the books so I can read about Fred's life, right???" LOL. Ds was stuck on a math assignment I gave him last week. I told him to just put it away for now and "just" do LoF for now. He was so happy. We'll go back to the other too, but Fred is a fun. (I still say evaluation is hard for the upper levels, but kids loving math books? Well, sign me up!)
Hedgehogs4
at this point the series starts with fractions, so yes, that is where we started.
Sue G in PA
Ds12 just started it last week. Such a breath of fresh air after Saxon. Saxon brought him to tears. LoF is the first thing he does in the morning and there are no tears, no complaints. We are breezing through Fractions and hoping to get through Decimals/Percents by the end of the year so he can start the Algebra book next year.
