First grade language arts

My dd6 is currently in public school. I am thinking of bringing her home next year for first grade. I think I am going to use Explode the Code. Otherwise, I have no idea what I can use in LA and I am open to suggestions. She is reading at around early second grade level. Otherwise, she is pretty at level.

Thanks!

Explode the Code would cover phonics. Right? I haven't used that one. I'd add a phonics based spelling book when she no longer needs separate phonics, regular copywork, lots of good quality books to read, and First Language Lessons level 1.

Here are some ideas...

"Language and Thinking for Children" by Ruth Beechick. www.amazon.com Jessie Wise's "First Language Lessons for the Well Trained Mind Levels 1-2." (The book with the little boy holding a butterfly on the cover.)

Phonics: MCP Phonics www.rainbowresource.com

Handwriting: Handwriting Without Tears www.rainbowresource.com

Readers: McGuffey Eclectic Readers or Elson Readers www.amazon.com
