cylau
My dd6 is currently in public school. I am thinking of bringing her home next year for first grade. I think I am going to use Explode the Code. Otherwise, I have no idea what I can use in LA and I am open to suggestions. She is reading at around early second grade level. Otherwise, she is pretty at level. Thanks!
MaMa2005
FLL 1/2 and WWE 1 would be ideal. IMO, if she is already reading at an early second grade level, it will probably be higher by the end of school. In that case, I would go with a good spelling program vs. ETC. SilverMoon
Explode the Code would cover phonics. Right? I haven't used that one. I'd add a phonics based spelling book when she no longer needs separate phonics, regular copywork, lots of good quality books to read, and First Language Lessons level 1. cylau
Good spelling program? You mean, like AAS? I am sorry! Forgive me for asking. What is FLL? What part of language arts does it cover? Edited February 7, 2011 by cylau

TheCoffeeChick
Good spelling program? You mean, like AAS? I am sorry! Forgive me for asking. What is FLL? What part of language arts does it cover? First Language Lessons is a grammar book. It teaches the basics of the parts of speech and includes poetry memorization.
