Soup Emergency--help!

Potato starch + chicken broth + T butter + celery + hemp milk

 

But it's...lumpy & weird instead of thick & creamy.

 

ETA: Ok, I think my main problem is putting stuff in in the wrong order. Instead of butter + starch w/ slow milk over that, I started w/ the milk & broth & then added the starch.

 

Is there any fixing it? It looks like a science experiment! :svengo:

Do you have an immersion blender? Or a regular blender? Blend it briefly, and it will break up the lumps.

 

For future reference, the best way to add starch is usually to mix some of it up with COLD milk, and then add the starch/milk slurry slowly to the warm milk in the pan as you whisk.
