Catherine
I have looked at CAP's Discovery of Deduction, and I already own Lewis Carroll's Game of Logic (haven't studied it yet though). My eighth grader has already had informal logic and some exposure to formal logic through Critical Thinking Books 1 and 2. Any other recommendations? Please when you make a recommendation, could you indicate how much religious doctrine is included in the curriculum? I don't use exclusively secular materials, but I'd like to know what's there. TIA! Josie
Our dd used Memoria Press Traditional Logic. She actually took the online class at Memoria Press. She enjoyed it and learned quite a bit.
Gratia271
I think the following would provide a secular option. It is on my shelf, as we have not begun it quite yet. It is this by Harry Gensler. There is a free teaching guide here and a program the student can use to aid their learning here.
dionne3514
My daughter just finished Traditional Logic 1 at Memoria Press and I was quite impressed with the course as with how much my daughter learned and worked through. It isn't the easiest course, but it is a worthwhile challenge.
