Night Elf
Why are these tests timed? Any idea? Why can't they just allow children to complete the questions, judging accuracy and not speed? We're about to do the CAT/5 again and I am just wondering.
lionfamily1999
I don't really know. I guess if you're 'better' at it you can get it done faster.

Parrothead
Do the the PASS test by Hewitt, it is not timed. http://www.hewitthomeschooling.com/test/testfaq.asp Thank you for this link. I've got it bookmarked for dd. Her biggest problem with the CAT/5 was the being timed. She is such a slow and steady type kid.
Night Elf
Do the the PASS test by Hewitt, it is not timed. I forgot about that one. I used it when the kids were younger. They tested a few grade levels ahead in it so I stopped testing for a while. Last June, out of curiosity I decided to test dd12 just to see where she was. It was much too simple so I am trying again now, and testing ds14 as well. They are using the 8th and 9th grade tests.
Suzanne in ABQ
The Stanford Achievement Test isn't timed. You can administer it yourself if you have a college degree, and you test another child (not your own child) at the same time as you test your child.
