WHAT is WRONG with people???? UGH

Recommended Posts

We have new neighbors. My 2 ds's were playing outside earlier and the new neighbors yelled outside their front door to them "If we see you playing outside again we are going to let our pet mountain lion eat you" in a mean voice.  My ds's were in MY yard, not even near the fence that seperates the two properties. Now my 4 year old ds is so scared he will not even go near the windows in my house  :cursing: WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???? Why would you scare a 4 year old and a 6 year old so bad that they are scared to leave their house and go near the windows in their own house??? :banghead:

Is there something legally that could be done if they keep scaring my sons like this??? I mean my poor 4 year old is in hysterics. My 6 year old has been so jumpy. Any noise and he about jumps out of his skin and gets scared asking if the mountain lion is outside. We tried explaining to them that there is no way these people have a mountain lion because people can not keep wild animals as pets, but they are still scared to death.

Dh went over there but the cowards would not come to the door. :glare:

I am so mad right now and this happened almost 3 hours ago. UGH

I wonder if your state has a law against terroristic threat and acts. Not so much like terrorism we see with radicals, but scaring the bejeezus out of someone. I know Georgia has one since that was where I was a police officer. What you described would fall under that law. Call the non -emergency police number and see if anything can be done.

You could try calling the non emergency police number and ask them about it. Maybe they would consider it harassment? I don't know otherwise.

Calling right now. This is so absurd that a grown man would do this to a child :cursing: :cursing:

Oh an ADULT said this? I thought it was just some older kids, in which I would have still talked to the parents, but an ADULT??? I would call the police. Let the neighbor know you don't mess around when it comes to your kids.

Yes, if you can call him that. I would guess somewhere around 24-25?? I called the police and she saidshe would send somebody out here to talk with us to see if anything can be done.

Update us when you can.

Let us know what happens. Seems like there should be SOMETHING that can be done (other than a flaming bag of dog doo...;)).

Sorry you have to deal with idiots. I always say they need their own island, and I get to decide who goes.

There isn't an island big enough. And why should the idiots get so much beach front? Leave them here. We should get the island - preferably a tropical one.

Oh, good. Hopefully the Bonehead will see the cop car out in front of your house. Point a couple times to Bonehead's house. If nothing else maybe it will give them pause.

What are your state laws on owning Mountain Lions for pets? If he has one or not - he did SAY he had one, so you can turn him into your state wildlife department. lol

:lol:This was my thought. I think you should get those police officers to go and check to make sure that the reported mountain lion is not actually on the property. Then, the officers can report back to your kids that they are safe because there is no mountain lion.:D:lurk5:

Ignore my earlier post. This would be way funnier than filing a complaint over a threat.

Thank you! I will one of the first jumping on that boat! (I miss island living...especially tropical, Pacific island living...)

:iagree: And there are some idiots who do own lions:glare: I would not let my kids play unsupervised out there at all or in view of the neighbors if at all possible:grouphug:

:iagree: Even if they just send patrol cars around just a tad more often than usual, it might give the neighbors something to think about.

One of my friends growing up lived in a trailer park next to someone who had a pet tiger. IN A TRAILER PARK. But apparently it was declawed and they'd removed the pointy teeth, so somehow that made it okay.

I am constantly amazed by the extent of some people's idiocy.

Ok... so the sheriff was just here. He also was concerned about the mountain lion and is paying them a visit :D He said that its not "illegal" to scare a child like this (though it did really REALLY upset him) he did say he would be more than willing to scare the people as much as legally possible about those actions and ask them how they would feel if it was there child. He said he would make sure they knew how scared my boys are because of what they said. He said if indeed there is a mountain lion in that house he would be bringing them to jail. He said he would be back after visiting with them. I will ask him to tell the boys there is no lion there when he gets back..

Here's hoping Bonehead is man enough to open the door to the deputy.

It is great to hear that your sheriff has some common sense and is willing to get involved. Your new neighbor sounds like an idiot (although he will tell the sheriff that he was only kidding around :glare:) and he needs to know immediately that you're not going to put up with any garbage from him.

Two thumbs up for the sheriff!

And why is it that as I get older the idiots are more frequent and oftentimes younger than me?

Well, more frequent--I don't know. But as far as younger, maybe you just outlived the ones who would be your age. Or if their stupid antics didn't kill them, maybe the last one scared them straight. :glare:

I know you weren't asking me, but I will answer...I almost made it to 3yrs!!!

Is this how we kill time until she comes back and tells us what the sherrif said? ;)

Ayuh.

Hopefully she won't leave us hanging.

Does that 3 years include childhood? Were you a military brat?

I wonder if she'll have to go to bed with little ones a-skeert of wildcats and not be able to update until tomorrow.

Still, I'm up for awhile, so :lurk5:

Me too. I've got about 90 minutes to see if Angel makes it to the tub to birth that baby. Of course if she does, I'll be up until the official announcement.
