Jeanne in MN
We have a 1981 high school algebra 1 book here that looks like it would work really well for us. I am considering getting a 1999 edition off Amazon for $5. My dh, who used to be a high school math teacher, says algebra hasn't changed since 1981, what we have is fine. What do you think? AngieW in Texas
It will be just fine. The only issue is going to be that the prices of things are going to be way off. The algebra program that my oldest used (Jacobs) was written in 1979, so there were some issues like that in the book.
GMB
Jeanne: I think your husband is correct. If the format of the 1981 book fits your student, I would not buy anything else. Anyway, we could probably teach our dc geometry just using Euclid's Elements. Gina
regentrude
Algebra has been around a long time. The book should be fine.
kiana
I think it's fine. I'd ignore any 'technology' projects, and ignore any instructions on use of a slide rule -- stuff like that.
arstephia
With a math teacher in the house, I think you could use ANYTHING! :drool5: Totally jealous of you having that resource under your roof.
