MSNative
The china thread got me thinking that I have some family antique hand me downs and collectibles that I'd be delighted to sell. My question - where does one go to sell these sorts of things? How do you figure out an appropriate value for the items? Thanks!
Donna
We sold some china a few years ago to a company that buys it to resell to people who are missing pieces to their own china. I can't remember the name of the website. We didn't get a lot for the set but got more than we thought we would be selling it not as a set but as separate pieces. Maybe if you look up the china pattern and find a match, you can see what pieces of the pattern are selling for to give you an idea on worth. Sorry I can't help more. Mejane
Do you have local antique shops? We have tons here, and they're always looking to buy things. Of course, you won't get as much because they need to make a profit, too.
Aggie
Do you have any siblings, cousins or nieces that might be interested in it? We have several 'antique' stores around our area. I'm sure any one of them would buy them, but probably not for a high price. It'd be an easy sale, though. :)
Gratia271
You could always try ebay. Some people have great success selling things there.
Onceuponatime
Is it www.replacements.com ? We have bought missing pieces from an old pattern there. I'm pretty sure they buy from people too.
Miss Marple
I've found craigslist to be the easiest place to sell such things. You can always search ebay and craigslist to find out what price other similar items have brought. One thing I have noticed in the past year is that antiques have hit a low. If you don't need to sell them, you might consider holding onto them for a little longer. Prices should go back up.
Mom in High Heels
Is it www.replacements.com ? We have bought missing pieces from an old pattern there. I'm pretty sure they buy from people too. It probably is. Replacements Ltd. gives you a FRACTION of what they resell it for though.

Be sure to take your china to a shipper first to get a good pack and ship estimate. I just priced out shipping for a friend on a medium sized set of china, and it was going to be well over $100.
