kalanamak
It is going very well. For samples: http://www.teachercreated.com/products/down-to-earth-geography-grade-3-9273?lt=search.1.7.1.20 but it is cheaper at Amazon.
MangoMama
Thanks for the link! The "map skills" book looks cool, too!
blakereese
Tell me more. :) What do you like about it? I was going to get one of the Evan Moor products, but this looks promising.
kalanamak
Tell me more. :) What do you like about it? I was going to get one of the Evan Moor products, but this looks promising. Each lesson has a section for kiddo to read, with just enough new words to make that educational. The sections are interesting but not "WOW kids! Here is some Whiz Bang so you won't fall asleep!". There is a short quiz at the bottom for him to practice multiple choice (we don't do it anywhere else). There are maps on every page, practically. There is a little map work each page. It is incremental in a way perfect for my son. It is mostly independent, but there is something for us to expand on every day. He doesn't look unhappy when I get it out. Each page is really rather short, so it can be done in 10 minutes, or we can move to our big wall map and review what we have covered so far for another 20-30. HTH To me, Evan Moore is less incremental and is "noisier". Maybe we'll try it (I already have it) when he is a little more independent. mo2
Looks nice. :) What about placement? Do you think there is a need to start at the beginning of the series, or can one just jump in at the grade 3 book?
blakereese
Thanks for the info. To me, Evan Moore is less incremental and is "noisier". This makes a lot of sense to me. I think we would like down to earth better.
kalanamak
L can one just jump in at the grade 3 book? YES, that is what we did.
