Dianne-TX
We have a Sony Vaio. Our cheapy cooling fan pad died. Is there a good one out there or will most do a good job?
Paintedlady
My laptop never leaves the house so I just use a wire cookie cooling rack like this one. I already owned it and didn't want to spend more money and it does the same job. Just an idea if you don't mind unconventional. :001_smile:
Remudamom
I bought a wire type stand at Walmart in the office supply department. $20, I love it and it'll set the computer up at all different angles.
Dianne-TX
So I don't necessarily have to have something cooling it, just getting it up works too? The computer feels so hot, though. Will that really help?
Remudamom
It works for me, and my computer is on most of the time.
Pam Wilhelm
We just prop it up on a book that is placed at the back. the only time we have had problems is when the kids are playing some high graphic type games. Otherwise, it has never been a problem.
TheReader
We also prop ours up in the back, but if you are still concerned about heat, we aim a small desk fan (think $5 at any large box type store, WalMart, Target, etc.) at the laptop when in use. That cools it down and gives the internal fan a break as well. the only problem with that, you have to be super diligent about dusting the fan, otherwise the fan just blows dust on the laptop. But, yes, we've managed for almost 4 yrs with this method (and our laptop is our only computer, in use during all daylight hours, in the tropics, with no A/C). Catwoman
I have never used a cooling pad for any of our laptops, and have had no problems with them. Cat
Belacqua
Mine seems to be called Targus (the logo is so stylized, I'm not sure). It works fine, and the little crystals inside are great fun to play with. My computer doesn't really need it, but I had it leftover from my always-overheating HP. Sun
I have never used a cooling pad for any of our laptops, and have had no problems with them. Cat :iagree: Mine only gets hot when playing a video, and it hasn't seemed to cause any problems. I didn't even know there were cooling pads for laptops! DarlaS
I have never used a cooling pad for any of our laptops, and have had no problems with them. Cat We don't either. Mine already sits up in the back so there's airflow underneath and my son's seems to run cool enough (He did have an issue once, and I think it just needed a good cleaning. It's still going strong--and it's a four year old Dell.).
