Giraffe
Please forgive me, but I need to whine. I have a bad back - titanium disc to replace the shredded one, bungee cord and titanium rod to support a fusion of three vertebra further up, associated screws and pins. I'm in pain a lot. Most of the time I can just suck it up and deal with it. When a low pressure system comes through I can feel it and I sometimes end up curled in a ball. I have a DD who loves to flop around. Even asleep she flops so much that we can't keep her in a twin bed - she falls out. This morning she "flopped" into my back. And now I'm in agony. DH caught her before she really body slammed me, but the way she hit me initially was such that it reverberated down my back and now my leg is tingling and numb. The pain in my back is excruciating. DH spoke to her severely but she really doesn't understand what she did. She's 3. I get that. So I'm trying to stay calm around her, though I'm not hiding the pain well. And maybe that's a good thing - she needs to understand that I can't be body slammed - ever. I just needed to whine to someone. I'm in a comfortable chair while DH goes to mass quickly and comes home. DD is watching TV. So much for the day. I had plans to do bulk cooking, pick meat off the chicken and freeze it and the carcass. I can't even stand right now. Whimper.
Tap
Wow, that is a horrible way to spend the day. :( I had two years of pain with my back and can completely empathize. I hope only need a few hours to get it to mellow out and you can go back to your day as planned. I am sure you hare already doing ice and anti-inflammatories but just a reminder in case you haven't yet. (Sometimes when I was in pain I wouldn't want to get up and take my meds.) You're right - when I'm in pain I forget the simple things. Took some Tylenol as soon as it happened in hopes of heading off the pain. Once DH gets back I'll have him bring some ice and Advil (it will have been enough time). Yes, I have stronger stuff if I need it, but I really don't want to take it - I'll be out the rest of the day for sure. I really can't get up right now. Luckily church will be over soon and he'll be home. He's got work to do too - can't be dealing with DD. I need to get better. Praying a couple of hours rest will settle things down. Catwoman
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: You poor thing!!! I am so sorry!!!! I hope the pain meds work for you, but I know that they usually only take the edge off a little when the pain is really intense, so I feel so badly for you.
