Kim in Appalachia
If she is young, Kmart carries wides, and they are nice shoes. They may work. (sometime you can get away with wide for "thick" feet) For an older child you may need to look into "good" brands, like Earth shoes, or Birkenstocks. One other thought, they just may be getting ready to grow, and will be more "normal" but a size bigger in another week. HTH
snickelfritz
another "quality" shoe store. My dd (2 1/2) has thick feet and has as long as I've been trying to find shoes for her. At her age, I have a hard time finding wides which is what does work for her. I can occasionally find shoes at a cheaper store that have an adjustable strap over the top or is open, but since the shoe store is willing to special order for me.....that's been the most reliable and the easiest to find the styles that I want. LG Gone Wild
if you mean that your kiddo's feet are just wide. First, it wouldn't hurt to find out if flat/flexible arches aren't the cause. If they are or aren't, I highly recommend buy shoes from Land's End. They have a good selection of children's shoes for wide feet. Try Piperline.com as well. klmama
Stride Rite has a cheaper brand called Smart Fit. You can find them at Target and other discount retailers. They have worked well for my thick-footed dc.
crazymom4
I don't know exactly what size they go up to...but my very thick rounded chubby footed children (are those real words...probably not!) have the best luck with www.preschoolians.com They offer flexible footed shoes...but still protection from the outside....they are supper cute!! And they will come with a narrow/regular/and wide footbed to put it....My son could only wear these when he was 2-3 yrs old....there was nothing stride rite had to offer that was comfy enough for him....especially after crocs!!! If you have specific questions about preschoolians...please feel free to email me joyal99@msn.com HTH
