staceyobu
I'm considering using MFW Adventures next year with a first grader along with Classical Conversations (which will be on American history). I would maybe like to do my own science so that it would match with CC's science. Would using Adventures without the science part work? Or is it too integrated into the program to drop? Samiam
No, you could completely do a different science. Science is two days a week and very light. You could drop it altogether or just for certain weeks (which I have done) and never know the difference. I think the only time it truly correlates to the overall program is when you are doing a state study, and science is a bird study. Some of the days, but not ALL, you are studying the bird in science that is the state bird for the state of the day. But you could still do that, and another science. Omma
Go for it! I think the booklist in the appendix is worth its weight in gold. I especially loved all the books that highlight an interesting aspect of each state when doing the states study. I also loved the names for Jesus study. AmyinMD
I don't use MFW Science at all. I haven't used Adventures but we have skipped the Science with both of the MFW programs we are using this year without any problem. We are using Elemental Science which I just like better. LuvToRead
I'm using Adventures this year and I'm not using the science. So, I would say it's worth using it, even without the science.
Guest momk2000
We did MFW Adventures 2yrs ago and already had another Science curriculum in place. We used it for just the Bible and History and it was definitely worth it.
sibbis
:iagree: with everyone! We skip the science more than I'd like and still get a lot out of Adventures.
cbollin
The science is more related to the Bible study with names of Jesus, and also with a science unit on Birds in the Bible. But it mostly is there to help see how things in science can help us understand Jesus a bit more. I liked doing Bread of LIfe in Bible and then doing science on yeast and baking bread and enjoying it. It's not time consuming at all. you can skip it if you want and sub. you're the teacher. curriculum is a tool. As long as what you use fits your time, energy and budget, try it. -crystal
