Whereneverever
Or, all of a sudden those fevers make sense! I strongly suspect my DS has chicken pox. We took him to the doctor last Tuesday with a fever and ear pulling. Both my DDs had the same symptoms. Days of antibiotics later everyone was feeling better- but the baby had spots. I thought it was perhaps from being nude so much and crawling on carpet (although that had never caused a rash before) until I noticed them weird places like fingers and the bottoms of his feet. And then they got that yellowish head and some have now crusted. DD1 wants to connect the ~100ish spots with markers. She says the baby would like it. I tend to disagree. And now DD2 has some spots. :tongue_smilie: The timing is terrible, but that's when these things happen, right? :glare:
Gratia271
The timing is terrible, but that's when these things happen, right? :glare: Yes, indeed. Black eyes the day before family pictures, flu right before Easter pageant. Yes, we have horrible timing down to a science around here. BlsdMama
A fever and a rash on the feet and hands? Are you sure it's not hand, foot, mouth disease? Doesn't chicken pox generally show up on the trunk first? (I wouldn't actually KNOW :glare: we've been trying to catch CP here for about nine years.) Oh, he has the rash from the soles of his tiny feet all the way up to his ears. I just noticed it on his legs first because he had been hanging out in a diaper + long sleeved T shirt. KidsHappen
(I wouldn't actually KNOW :glare: we've been trying to catch CP here for about nine years.) You and me both sister. My youngest has not had chicken pox yet. She is 11 years old and has extreme eczema. I worried that it will be much worse if she gets it when she is older. However, despite my best efforts she has yet to get it. My doctor has said that it is possible that she had such amild case that we never noticed it or that she is naturally immune considering everyone else in the house has had it but I still worry. You might want to consider a blood test now that she's this old and see if she's had them. She really doesn't want to get them as an adult. I know I'm probably preaching to the choir but I remember our neighbors in NYC when the whole family came down with chicken pox - not pretty. Yes, this is what we'll do when my daughter is 11 or 12 (just a couple of years to go). She'll have a titer test done & we'll decide from there what to do. OP, the good news is, if it is chicken pox - your children are small still. They won't even remember having them most likely, and they'll have immunity! :D Susan
SonshineLearner
Remember that you can get an anti-viral shot. Doctors forget to offer them... weigh the risks.... as the spots scab and heal.... keep them oiled up to avoid scars..... I did a witches brew of Neem oil (very good oil!!) jojoba oil, apricot kernal... I think?? EOs like lavendar and lemon whatever... I looked up online... and my son... who had a horrible case.... came out with maybe one or two little teeny scars... Also, remember... that every time you're around the chx pox... it's great.... as long as it doesn't give you shingles... because it builds your immunities... Also, I think it was here that I saw that you can get a shot if you start to get the shingles...... I think it was on here that I read about that... There are symptoms..... that someone here talked about recognizing.... and they were "gonna get shingles" symptoms... I think they found them in some medical book :) Good Luck!! I'd rather get the real thing.... than the vaccine... anyday :)

Yep, I got my second case when I was 33. It was not fun. Hopefully I am finally immune. I also hope that I never get shingles. My brother got this as an adult and he said it was extremely painful.
