Haiku
I registered my dd 3rd grade for the NME. We got the d'Aulaire's book yesterday and she started reading it. I went over what she read with her and asked her questions, and she took notes on the answers. She said, "I've never studied before; this is fun!" :D She was, however, asking me questions about the format of the exam and whether she would be able to have notes near her to help her with spelling. I don't have the study guide yet and have never seen the exam. Can anyone tell me about what the exam is like? And whether I can help my dd spell things if she knows them but can't spell them? That appears to be her biggest worry: spelling. Tara
Cindy in NY
If I remember right, the exam is all multiple choice. I'll ask my kidlets when they get up, but I am almost sure I am remembering correctly.
Tweed
Yes multiple choice. It's like a CAT test, just fill in the circle.
Halcyon
we wanted to sign up for this too, but forgot to mail in our form-it says the deadline is today-do you think that's the postmark date? or do you think they need to receive it by today? I'd go with the postmark date. I'd also call them. I can't imagine they are really in the business of shutting kids out, ya know? Starr
It is multiple choice and not very long. The questions are about main information. My dc thought it was fun! I think info could be sent in today. I can't image they would take your money and not send the test. I had some date trouble a few years ago because of my health and they worked it all out.
