Dolphin
So, my DS is in 3rd grade and this is our first year of HS. When we started I found that his handwriting was horrible!!! So, I started GD at level 1. We love it, his handwriting has improved so much. The one problem is that the lines are so big in it (as it is meant for K-1). Everything else he does, FLL, WWE, etc has the appropriate lines for a 3rd grader. We are finishing book A this week. I have both books B and C, and my question is, as he is older, could we just skip to book C? Is there a major step that I would be missing out on by skipping book b? 5LittleMonkeys
Even book C begins with a review of everything already done and has the 9mm lines. If his letter formation is good and he doesn't have any problems keeping the formation correct in his writing for other subjects then I would just skip to the transition in book C. (pg 38, 6mm lines) There are still some pages in the beginning of the transition that have a few lines of 9mm too. If he needs more practice with letter formation before going to the transition then you could purchase lined paper in the 3rd grade size and have him do the lessons on it instead of in the book. Dolphin
That is a great idea, I had not even thought of just using separate paper. Sometimes the simplest ideas just fly over my head.
mcconnellboys
No, you could skip. There are plenty of levels in the books to allow you to use them for several years. And there are lots of copywork things available online now that use italic handwriting, too, if you need extra practice later....
