praisefor3
I have a whole package of these cb's and a very busy week ahead so I need to use my crock pot. I am having trouble finding a slow cooker recipe that includes breasts with the bone in. Any suggestions for a recipe where I don't have to d-ebone the chicken? MyLittleWonders
I usually put a whole (cut-up) chicken in the crock pot (not deboned) with about 1 1/2 cups of brown rice, 3-4 cups of chicken broth and a diced onion. It cooks all day and though I have to usually carefully pick any rogue bones out as I'm scooping, it tastes great and the chicken is nice & tender. :)
Nojo317
You can use any recipe really. I've removed the skin from bone-in breasts, and used in lieu of boneless breasts (especially when I can find them for .99/lb!!). Once cooked in the crockpot, you can remove them from the pot and shred up the meet easily with two forks. The meat comes off the bone so easily! Another option is to just boil them up, cool, and shred them up. Freeze them in sandwich zip locks and pull out as needed for casseroles, chicken enchiladas, etc.
Margo out of lurking
I don't have a specific recipe, but I just found a wonderful website with crockpot recipes. I read about the cookbook on amazon, checked it out from the library, and it referred me to the website. I've been poring over the cookbook (right now!), and it's great. You can click on the link on the left for chicken recipes, and the list is in alphabetical order. Since I have the cookbook in front of me, it may be easier for me to look for recipes that will work with bone-in chicken: 20- to 40-Clove Garlic Chicken Bacon-Wrapped Cornish Game Hens (hey, game hen, chicken breast, what's the difference?) Coq Au Vin Lazy Chicken Lemon-and-Herb-Roasted Chicken Rotisserie-Style Chicken Some are for whole chicken, but it's a crock pot and chicken. What could go wrong? :)
Halcyon
we just made a GREAT recipe tonight using drumsticks, but it would work equally well with any bone-in chicken-it was REALLY easy and the boys loved it. We lowered the amount of butter, fyi. http://www.food.com/recipe/garlic-roasted-chicken-in-the-crock-pot-184679
Dobela
I make this one with bone in, even though it calls for boneless. I also use chicken broth instead of beer.

Brigitte
I usually just put them in the crock pot with barbecue sauce. Sometimes I remove the skin and sometimes I don't. At the end, I pick out the bones, since the meat has usually fallen off the bone. Easy.
