CalicoKat
Amen. I cast on and knit til I turned a heel and discovered that I'd also turned my attitude. :001_smile:
cat in black
I have gotten through crisis after crisis with two needles and a ball of string. I know exactly what you mean.
3lilreds in NC
You know, I should try that. It would definitely be better for me than turning to chocolate, which is my current stress reliever. :D
Brigitte
You know, I should try that. It would definitely be better for me than turning to chocolate, which is my current stress reliever. :D :iagree: And, when I am out of chocolate I turn to whatever I can get my hands on. So, someone please share some easy knitting or crocheting projects that I could do (I have yet to progress beyond dishcloths). :bigear:
Rose in BC
I learned how to knit in Sept 2009. In Oct 2009 my dh learned the mill he worked at for 21 yrs would be closing. Knitting has been therapy for me in 2010. Seriously. 2010 was a rollercoaster on so many levels if I weren't the one living it I wouldn't believe it. Knitting has kept me sane. ThatCyndiGirl
I completely agree. I wish I would have known how to knit when I was going through the deaths of family members. I think it really would have helped. (especially things like simple garter knit scarves in which it is just one stitch over and over and over and over again.) rhythmic calming soothing

fairfarmhand
I was doing embroidery while sitting with my mom in the nursing home last Sunday. Can't tell you how soothing it was to have something to do with my hands.

akmommy
After my granfather was diagnosed with cancer my grandmother took to crocheting potholders. They were simple and didn't require a lot of concentration, but kept her hands busy. Also, they were easy to take back and forth to the hospital. Now that grandma is gone too I treasure the potholders she shared with me.

CalicoKat
I'm going to finish this afghan this year! Yesterday was difficult for us with dh getting meeting with HR for his layoff (we we warned it was coming beforehand). I dug this out of the basket and started figuring out where I'd left of and what's still to do. I knit another edge piece too. I am going to finish it. Cinder
I'm going to finish this afghan this year! Thanks to the link to your project page. I'm inspired by your tarn rug--I spent a couple hours yesterday cutting tarn strips. I need a rug for in front of my kitchen sink and one made of tarn would be nice and squishy! Emmy
Knitting gets me through the school day. I sit and knit while I'm overseeing math. I sit and knit while my first grader reads to me. I love it.

When the season rolls over I should have enough tshirts for another tarn rug.
Woolspinner
Another fiber addict here as well. Crochet, knitting and spinning have literally been lifesavers for me these past several years. I take it with me wherever I go and knit or crochet when I have to wait anywhere. It has started many conversations for me and even earned me a little extra money when someone has asked me to make something for them. I'm on a waiting list for a French Angora bunny this spring. I want to spin and I want to try spinning cotton (one son is allergic to wool). So I'll have to spin wool outdoors in the spring and later fall to keep it from bothering him, hence the cotton. I'm a spinner wanna be. I figure it counts as exercise too. Closeacademy
Knitting has helped me to relax so much. I don't get nearly as stressed out about life as I used to. Plus, I get to make pretty things that everyone loves.:001_smile:
