caryn
Hi, I have been hoping to get magic bullet especially just to make smoothies. my old blender could not blend ice and it is leaking. Anyway, i saw this Ninja prep thingy in Sam's club yesterday so I wondered if anyone has used either one .Tell me is it worth buying it . Or are they any other recommendation. Basically I just want one to make smoothies or iced drinks (something like frappe). So if any of you are really happy with your machine please chime in to help me make a decision. Thanks in advance, Caryn
Truscifi
I just use a good quality stick blender that fits all the way inside our glasses. It works like a charm, and I just slide the stick part off the end to wash. Not all of them will fit inside a regular glass though. I took one of our glasses to the store to check before I bought it. KDoty
I was given both as a gift and I have to say that they both work quite well. Each works better for different jobs. I would say that if you're just wanting to make smoothies, the bullet's perfect. My hubby and I use ours daily for that purpose and it blends a great smoothie. I hope this was helpful :). Cindyg
I've had both of those too. They are both good choices. I make smoothies every day, and so I go through blenders. It's almost random which blender can handle ice. Some cheap ones can and some really expensive ones can't. Both the Ninja and the Bullet can. I loved the smallness of the Bullet. It was SO easy to clean. So handy. Great motor. But I hated that it came with 90 million "party" cups. When it finally died of old age, the main reason I didn't buy another Bullet was because I didn't want to double my supply of unused "party" cups. The Ninja is much bigger, takes up much more room in the dishwasher, and requires a separate drinking cup (the Bullet doesn't!). But it's a strong motor with a wonderful double blade. It whips through anything frozen in just a few pulses. It's a great machine. Go with either. :)

Cindyg
One more thing about the Bullet: There is no way to get replacement parts. I had forgotten that that is actually why I got rid of mine. Some small part broke or died (I don't remember exactly), and there is no way to get replacement parts. (And I didn't want to repurchase all those extra cups!) In looking online for replacement parts, I read a LOT of negative reviews. I was surprised. It was a great machine for me -- but maybe I got lucky. (?) One other disadvantage of the Bullet -- it is small. You cannot make two smoothies at once. But it is great for one single smoothie. I thought it was very clever that you whip it right in the drinking cup.
specialmama
I have a Tribest Personal Blender. It's more expensive, but well worth it. :001_smile:
