BlsdMama
The book says to weight the grade as follows: 35% Labs 65% Tests I'm fine with this, but should they not get any points for homework? For example - 10% for the "On Your Own" questions and/or maintaining the vocabulary notebook and notes/study guides? It seems to me there is a lot of day to day work not being tossed into the equation?
Susan C.
I split between labs and tests. Homework can be with the labs, so labs/homework 50%, tests 50%. 65% is very high for a class grade. Ds is a junior in college, and no professors have ever made tests that much of the grade.
Gratia271
I had the opposite experience in my university studies. Typically, the exams were worth 70-75% of our semester grade. For my daughter's high school level work, I generally have a credit/no credit policy for homework. With lab classes, I follow the 65/35 rule. lagirl
We weighted the class differently than was suggested. Like you, we felt that homework should be given some "weight".
BlsdMama
I really have to adjust my thinking to: It's okay! It's YOUR homeschool. You do not need everyone's permission! (But it sure helps!) :D Thanks!
