elegantlion
Do you have any book recs, websites, etc... or care to share your story? I'm on a journey, pondering I guess, and unsure how to word this question. I'm not questioning my belief in God as much as my belief that Christianity is the only path to God. Maybe I'll leave it at that to start the dialogue. You can PM me if you'd rather not share publicly.

I shared some of my shedding Christianity story in the ex Christian thread. I have departures from all major religions i am knowledgeable about; but I still believe in a power greater than myself. I do believe there is one "source" but I don't believe that source is possessive, exclusive, jealous or scripted.

sleepymommy
One God, many paths is a key component of Sanatana Dharma, which literally means "eternal or universal Truth" (Vedanta) more commonly known as Hinduism. "Ekam Sat Vipra Bahuda Vedanti" Rig Veda That which exists is One, Rishis call it by various names. Many other religions have taken this phrase and have tried to twist it, especially those seeking converts. It does not mean all religions are the same, it is purposefully there as to not discredit any other Truth-seeking religions. There is no us vs them complex. With such a diversity of people on this Earth there will obviously be diversity of practices in religion. We can't all be one homogenous group of people. Thus, Truth/God/ Higher Power/Supreme Being is ONE, the various names are given my MAN. Here are a few websites that give a basic overview: http://www.bhavans.info/heritage/echoes45.asp http://guruji.narod.ru/sanmarg.html http://www.vedanta-seattle.org/what-is-vedanta/ I can gather some names of books if your interested in learning more. I've got to go cook some dinner right now.

sleepymommy
Here is a good starter book: Hinduism: The Eternal Tradition by David Frawley http://www.amazon.com/Hinduism-eternal-tradition-Sanatana-Dharma/dp/8185990298 This website has a lot of articles and info from this author and more: http://www.hindubooks.org/david_frawley/hinduism/ David Frawley has written numerous books on various topics within the scope of Hinduism/Sanatana Dharma that are easy to read. Another great book is: Self-Unfoldment by Swami Chimayananda http://www.amazon.com/Self-Unfoldment-Self-Discovery-Swami-Chinmayananda/dp/1880687046 can also be found at http://www.chinmayapublications.org/detail.php?id=56&prodid=AS17 There are many good books on that site too. Stephen Knapp has also written several books that are very interesting and thorough. Some of his writing is rooted from a certain sect, it is not overly bias or wrong in any way, it should just be known when reading. Here is a you tube vid of him giving a basic overview of Sanatana Dharma. Feel free to contact me if you have more questions or would like more resources.:001_smile: I wish you all the best on your spiritual journey.
