I was driving down the road yesterday and a radio commercial came on and began to describe one of my sons... he lies every day... blames others continuously... tries to make others look bad... gets angry when you hold him accountable or actually expect/require him to do something that he doesn't want to... So, I called. I also looked it up online. I think I will be giving this a try. I listened to an audio excerpt... I think I may find that many of my beliefs are in the program, but that I haven't known effective ways of working with this particular child. I think it will also help me to correct my parenting ways when I slip into a "punishing" mode. So, I am wondering if any of you have tried it or know of someone who has... Thanks! joannqn Posted January 7, 2011 Share Posted January 7, 2011 I haven't used it but my husband was given a copy to review and I watched part of it. It seemed a direct and no nonsense approach. Give the expectations, don't engage in arguments, follow through with prearranged consequences is the basic idea. There's more to it, of course. I've heard that commercial dozens of times and have always wondered if I could be doing a much better job (after a rather touchy discussion with 16yo this morning).
