trying my best
a year ago i introduced reading to DS. My SIL was an elementary teacher back then and she recommended that web site for reading. Thats what we have been using. We started with decodable books, and then moved to more frequent words books. Then we moved to the main drill.... Me, knowing anything else but that, would you recommend to have that as our main reading source or have something else as well? Celia
We use it, and I love the books from there! My ds strongly prefers non-fiction, and it's so hard to find short books at his level that are such. I don't use it exclusively, and have been looking at the sonlight list of readers and borrowing those from the library, but that's because the only ones I deem worthy of printing and putting together for him are the non-fiction as fiction is so readly available. I suppose you could use them as your primary source of readers, but I think it would be missing out on a bunch of other nice books :) So much to read... so little time... Cindyz
I checked out the free trial but it didn't appeal to me. It was mostly because there are enough free books from the library and I did not want to pay and do the work of printing them out to be read only once or twice. I'm working on a reading list for my guy right now. I went through the readers listed for his level through sonlight, veritas press, logos, etc and then added a few of my own. I put them in order by level as listed on scholastic.com and here's what I have so far! I typed this up for myself so forgive the lack of caps and typos! We get all of our books from the library. trying my best
I LOVE ReadingA-Z.. as they get older it becomes a well rounded reading/english curriculum covering vocab and grammar as well as the reading. The stories are great and my kids all enjoy them (and so do I!!). I think it's perfect as your main reading curriculum.. round it out with trips to the library for the kiddos to choose their own colorful books and you are more than set. YES! i like how they are already sorted into levels and how well they are progressing. i LOVE the comprehension questions and the work on a side that each book provides. :)
