Debbi in Texas
We are in the process of a re-do of ds16's bedroom. For 3 years now it has just been bed, chest of drawers, desk, dresser, bookcase. Nothing on the walls. He has decided the decor he wants to use (state park scenes and football-I can't imagine how those two are going to tie together). He needs something to hold his cd's for sure. Can you tell me how your son's room looks or even post pictures? I am not very good at decorating and need some ideas. Thanks, thanks, thanks a lot!! Mejane
No, it's too messy. :D I will tell you, however, that it's painted a dark navy blue (Ralph Lauren's Magistrate Black) on the bottom, lighter blue on top with a border, and that he has a gun-metal loft bed and black shelving, and that there are theater posters and memorabilia everywhere. It's really cool, and we designed it together around his love of theater. Find a cool border (there are tons with sports themes) and paint to go with it, then go from there: posters, sports memorabilia, etc. Edited January 5, 2011 by Mejane

Chelle in MO
They have some nice-looking teen rooms, I think. Oh, my gosh! Did you just get their catalog? I got it yesterday and was  ! *I* want one (or a houseful!) of those rooms! Debbi, I wouldn't be able to effectively combine your son's two themes, I'm afraid! My two teens share a room decorated w/StL Cardinals stuff. Dark navy paint on the bottom, white on top, with a Cardinals border. On the walls are Cardinals posters and pennants, the boys' trophies and awards on shelves. Have fun with it! It doesn't have to look like a magazine. It just needs to be what you guys want! Chelle in MO
but I promptly threw it in the trash so I wouldn't have "room envy." I didn't quite "promptly" throw it away. I had to flip through *just a bit* to see how the other half lives! :D
Tap
Ds's room has been decorated the same for years as he doesn't like change. When we decorated it, I was looking for a theme that was pretty open age wise. Glad I did! LOL His is light/medium blue on 5/6 of the wall, light green on the top 1/6 and ceiling. He has a border that is yellow, green, blue, red classic muscle cars and the chrome accents on the cars, is shiny on the border. The colors come from the border. It is nicer than it sounds. He has dark blue, light blue and red accents. Plaid sheets, dark blue blankets, plaid coverlet, red curtains...etc. Brushed chrome accessories like his wall clock and baskets to catch misc items. For decorations he has a large Wyland dolphin painting (same blues/greens) that has been in our home since before he was born, 3 natural wood and black round shelves with his rock collection. His furniture is all light birch. It doesn't look like Pottery Barn....but it doesn't look too bad either. His room is pretty basic. He likes things to be simple so he doesn't have a lot of clutter.
