elegantlion
Curiosity got the better of me and I had to figure out what 888 was. I like the challenge and have added my list to my elegantlion blog. How is everyone else doing with their 888? I'd love to see your reading lists.

elegantlion
Thanks for posting your lists! I love your "hyped books" category SolaMichella:D I had never read Austen either until last fall. (gasp!) I made it through "Pride & Prejudice", but it took a few months. I started it right after we had finished "Witch of Blackbird Pond" for school. It took me a few weeks to adjust my thinking, going from early American work ethic to British society.
angela in ohio
I have finished: Swiss Family Robison Treasure Island Around the World in Eighty Days Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm Desiring God The Language Police Freedomnomics (and Freakonomics) Heart of Anger Feminine Appeal Home-Making Mere Christianity Economics in One Lesson I am currently reading The Hobbit and the Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism, along with the Reformation Study Bible. Several of the ones I have read so far were re-reads, and I hesitated to put them on my list for the year. I have been greatly rewarded by re-reading them, though. 6packofun
I keep adding books to mine, over and above the 888. LOL! I just finished The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney and loved it. Costa (formerly Whitbread) award winner in 2006. Good stuff! I need to STOP reading other people's lists, though, because it makes me change or add to mine too much!! heehee :D You know, I love the motivation aspect of the 888, so whether I finish all or not, if I end up reading *better* books and savoring them more, then I don't care if I "complete" this thing in the way it was intended. It's fun! I feel like I'm reading more of what I want to (and have wanted to, but kept forgetting about) by doing this!
6packofun
Jenny, how did you like The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier Clay? I have The Yiddish Policemen's Union on my list but I've heard better things of the other one...

It's fun! I feel like I'm reading more of what I want to (and have wanted to, but kept forgetting about) by doing this! How true, thanks for the reminder. I like to digest my books for a few days after finishing. I'm still pondering on "Huckleberry Finn". I read "Devil's Arithmetic" in two days and had to explain to my dh why I was bawling my eyes out when he came home from work.
Jenny in Atl
Jenny, how did you like The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier Clay? I have The Yiddish Policemen's Union on my list but I've heard better things of the other one... I liked both, but they are very different. Amazing Adventures, is just that... Adventures (magical), while YPU is gritty, almost a tribute to 50's crime novels. His writing is amazing, really pulls you in and takes you for a great ride. Enjoy!
