Country Girl
What have been your favorite Kindle books that are free? Most likely these will be older classics, but I'm open to any suggestions you have found for free! ETA: Free or really cheap.... like less than $1 Edited January 5, 2011 by Country Girl
hsbaby
Last Light Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl These are two I recently enjoyed. A lot of the free books I have downloaded are no longer free. I usually google for free kindle books to see what is currently available. stephanier.1765
The Hangman's Daughter was free when I got it but it's only $3.99 now. The torture scenes were hard to take but since the executioner doesn't enjoy his work it made it easier to read. The book is basically a historical whodunit. I also recently discovered Henry Rider Haggard. His writing is very old fashioned and hard to get used to but once you get going his books are quite good. I recently enjoyed Montezuma's Daughter and The People of the Mist. Edited January 5, 2011 by slr1765
TXMomof4
I really enjoyed most of the Thomas Hardy books. Tess of D'urbervilles was my least favorite, but if you like Jane Austen these are pretty good. I also enjoyed many of Edith Wharton's books. If you download all those, then look at the recommended for you part, they pull up a lot of authors I'd never heard of but enjoyed trying. Lizzie in Ma
Here is a wonderful source for free books in all formats. http://manybooks.net// Once you click on a book, there is a pull down where it says "download" and you can choose your format. lionfamily1999
My house is going to be so much less cluttered now. I'm looking at all these free books and thinking, "I don't even need new bookshelves!" Thank you for sharing :D
CalicoKat
I've been finding many free books on the Kindle Boards in the Book Bazaar Forum there's a listing for free books in January 2011. They're not just limited to the classics. I enjoyed the Apothacary's Daughter and the Centurion's Wife and now I'm reading the Queen's Doll Maker. Fun!
