Nestof3
Okay. I am getting annoyed. I have always been a 24-29 day girl with 26-27 being typical. Last month, I had a huge scare thinking I was pregnant because my typical signs came two weeks early. I had two weeks of symptoms, and then on day 23, I finally started (after a blood test at my physician's office b/c I was a nervous wreck). Now, I am on day 19, and I started. I had no signs except some b. tenderness that made me wonder what was going on. My mom and maternal grandmother both started menopause early -- my mom by 38 and my mat. grandmother had entered when she died at 38 (of leukemia). Could this be signs of menopause? Liz CA
Perhaps perimenopause or it could just be a fluke if you worked out really hard or had a ton of stress. Perimenopause means literally "around/near menopause" but the real thing will likely not happen for some years.
Peela
A change in the regularity of your cycle is definitely within the realm of normal as you get older. 19 days is short- maybe get a womens/ hormonal check up if it continues. My cycle was always long and irregular- nowadays its much shorter and much more regular, but its still never predictable.
Wee Pip
Cysts or polyps can cause early/irregularities. Also, if you've had steroids in the past 6mos, that can cause weirdness. About 4mos after I had a cortizone shot in my shoulder, I had really odd cycles that gradually became nonstop. If it continues, it may be worth a trip to the gyn; they can do an ultrasound to see if you have a cyst or polyp that may be causing early cycles. dancer67
Anemia can also cause it as well. It is a huge pain, I know. I am 43 and going through all kinds of weird stuff now. My mom was 48 at meopause. :grouphug:
KS_
Could this be signs of menopause? I have always had 29-30 day cycles and several years ago (early 30s) my cycles started getting a lot shorter (by a week or so - which wasn't making me particularly happy). I started taking chaste tree berry (Vitex) and that got my cycles back to normal for me. I'm taking a perimenopausal supplement now that contains chaste tree. FaithManor
I vote for peri-menopause and it can last 10-12 years. I'm 42 and things have gotten unpredictable and totally whacky. My mother entered menopause at 53, so I figure that I'm on that side of things. I try to treat it naturally because my grandmother had breast cancer at 72 years of age and so, though that's pretty late in life and generally not considered genetic, it's still considered a risk factor and therefore, estrogen therapy is not an option. Mejane
Yes. A change in cycle was the BIG SIGN that I was starting menopause. I didn't have hot flashes, etc. I have always been regular: 28 days like clockwork. Now it's 24-30 with spotting. I am crampy the week before. Sometimes it's extremely heavy, sometimes it's light... it really stinks, gotta say. :glare:
